Down with Egg Salad

Oh, Ugly Betty, thank you so much for an episode that didn't make me cringe. After the awful Henry-Charlie nonsense, Wili's over-the-top manipulation of a person's mental health (a personal hot-button issue for me), and the prolonged separation of Marc and Amanda, there was quite a bit about the second half of the season that I haven't really enjoyed. However, I finally watched this week's episode, and on the whole I really, really enjoyed it. I almost feel guilty being so firmly in the Betty/Gio camp these days, given how much I adored early Betty/Henry (not to mention Christopher Gorham in general). But while Henry once seemed charming, sweet, and sensitive, now he mostly comes across as wimpy and indecisive. Meanwhile, Gio has a lot less baggage, and has been pretty clear about what he wants. He's expressed his feelings to Betty, but he's also been a damn good friend to her.

Much like an episode of Bones earlier this season, the kiss between Gio and Betty, while hot, wasn't even my favorite moment between the two of them. Their dance was just lovely and heart-pounding, and the look on his face when she ran off...guh. And of course, how can I not mention the ending, when he laid it all on the line for her: "I don't want to be the rebound guy. I want to be THE guy." Swoon.

Meanwhile, Justin is still 827 kinds of awesome (and he got so much taller!), and Eddie Cibrian is still hot.

Marc and Amanda, together again! Woo!

I'm not overly invested in the Meade family drama, but can we make Mama Meade a regular next year instead of Alexis? Judith Light rocks.

MTV is marathoning the last season of SYTYCD. I love this show beyond reason. Can't wait for the new season!

Jake 2.0 icon!

As much as I've always loved Betty/Henry, I am completely okay with Betty/Gio. He just seems like exactly what she needs right now. Plus, he's so cute.

I've been sucked into the SYTYCD reruns, even though I've never watched the show before. Addictive.

SYTYCD is totally addictive...I got hooked on it in S2 (S4 starts this week), even going to the tour last fall. I enjoy it so much more than I ever did DWtS, mostly because the level of dancing is so much. The things those kids can do! Simply phenomenal.
