I decided that in order to balance out the crankiness of that last post, I needed to write something cheerful and fandom-related. Or something.

Watched 24 last night, naturally, and when it was over, I thought to myself (actually, I might have said it aloud to my otherwise-empty house), “There was not nearly enough KIEF if that episode. I don’t like that.” And then, of course, I thought about [info]aliasrlm and [info]stephdub. Because they get the Kiefdom, yo. Or something like that. I’m such a goob. :-P

After a rather slow start to the season, I am once again enjoying American Idol. As I’ve mentioned in previous entries (I think—I’m a bit senile like that), it is so TV crack. Week after week of cheesetastic horribleness, and yet I can’t stop watching. [Interesting side note: I am typing this up in Word, as it is thereby less obvious to TPTB at work that I am not actually, you know, working, and apparently, “horribleness” is a real word. “Cheesetastic,” naturally, is not.] More AI thoughts )

So right now, I’m going through a voracious Harry-Potter-fanfic-reading phase. It started out fairly innocently over at The Sugar Quill, where I sought out nice, sweet Harry/Ginny fics, and had “Hermione, Queen of Witches” recommended to me. Then I decided that I was in the mood for some smut, and I found my way over to The Restricted Section. I read Harry/Hermione, Hermione/Ron, Harry/Draco, Hermione/Draco, Draco/Ginny…it was a gold mine for my smut-deprived little mind. But now…oh dear me, I have found what I fear to be my true downfall.

Hermione/Snape fic. On the surface, I find the concept utterly repulsive. Just, eww. But hot damn, there are some amazing fics out there. I’ve been combing through The Lord and Lady Snape and I am beyond addicted. This is very, very bad.

One final thought: Everwood hasn’t had a new episode in far too long. And then The WB taunted me this past Monday by making me thing the new ep was that night, which of course it wasn’t. But at least I got to see Bright as “Tony Tigerillo” again.

I watch too much TV. It’s as simple as that. It’s not as though I don’t have better things I could be doing. I’m just…addicted. So, without further adieu, yet another week’s worth of Thoughts on TV Shows I Taped.

So, I dyed my hair last Thursday. Nothing especially drastic, just more red. All of three people have noticed so far. My mother has not noticed, which is obviously a sign of the impending apocalypse.

[info]aliasrlm's hysterically funny post about wretchedly overdone Christmas decorations got me to pondering something this morning. I've pondered it before, of course, but this served as a reminder.

Anyway, will someone please explain to me the motivation behind using crucifixes (is that a word?) as Christmas decor? I mean, I get the connection to Christ and all that, but it just doesn't seem all that appropriate. Christmas is a celebration of Christ's birth. Which is pretty much the opposite of what the crucifix symbolizes. People don't put out nativity scenes at Easter, so why is the reverse okay? Don't get me wrong, people can do whatever they want, I just think it's weird.

I missed last week's episode of 24, because I'm stupid and set the recorder, but didn't put a tape in. I hope I'm not too confused tonight.

Yesterday was a good TV night. First I watched Gilmore Girls, which, oddly enough, was the low point of the evening. Is it my imagination, or is absolutely nothing happening on this show this season? There seems to be very little in the way of actual story arcs that last multiple episodes. I still think there's a lot of talent to be utilized, but the characters are getting progressively less and less worthy of my time and attention. Plus, Rory needs to be slapped. There was a fantastic Kirk/Luke scene, which just goes to show that there doesn't need to be an actual Gilmore Girl in the shot for it to be quality television. The utter absence of Taylor was also a blessing.

So then I watched 24, which I had never, ever seen before, but which [info]trixalicious, [info]stephdub, [info]aliasrlm, [info]sullymel, et al have been raving about for quite some time. I figured it was worth a shot.

Okay, so I know that last week I wrote about what a terrible show One Tree Hill is, and with the premiere of 24, I had absolutely no intention of watching it. But then they showed a preview during GG, and there was BuffShirtlessCMM, and I couldn't resist, so I taped it. And much to my astonishment, it really wasn't bad. OTH thoughts... )
