Wow, I watch too much TV

So much TV, so little time. I still need to watch the two-hour "finale" of Stargate: Atlantis, as well as the season premiere of Desperate Housewives, but that leaves plenty of shows to cover!

Going back a week...finally watched the season premiere of Arrested Development. Damn, that show is funny! It makes me sad that more people don't watch it. Given their penchant for cancelling great shows before their time (Keen Eddie, Firefly), I really give FOX credit for sticking with the show. It certainly deserves the support. Who knew the kid from The Hogan Family would have such impeccable comic timing? Jason Bateman is still my favorite part of the show, but the rest of the cast--particularly Will Arnett, Jeffrey Tambor, and David Cross--is also fantastic. And I love that there's actually an imoscar.com website.

Also watched Monday's episode of Prison Break. I enjoy the show, but, I don't know, it's still lacking somehow. Breaking it down )

Numb3rs is back! I missed you, Charlie. :) I really enjoyed the season premiere, and it was great to see that Navi Rawat has been promoted to the opening credits. I'll miss Sabrina Lloyd, but I thought Diane Farr did a nice job. 3.1415926 )

I really liked the season premiere of Crossing Jordan. I wasn't thrilled with the way some things were left in last year's finale, and I wasn't sure how they would be addressed. Most of it was good, fortunately. We're off to the see the Wizard )

Grey's Anatomy still rocks, even if Meh-redith is useless. George is still beyond adorable, and Cristina kicks ass. Paging Dr. McDreamy )

If there are any fans of Wicked (the book, not the musical) reading this, here's a heads-up: the sequel, called Son of a Witch, is being released tomorrow. It picks up after Dorothy melts the Wicked Witch, and focuses on the young man who may or may not be Elphaba's son.

Season 4 of Gilmore Girls comes out on DVD tomorrow, so I'll be picking that up as well. I haven't seen most of S4, so it will be fun to watch "new" episodes.

I hate my garage

So, I decided to run out to Borders tonight to pick up a couple books (I want to read Helter Skelter--not really sure why), and because my stupid neighbors' sleep-over friends like to park their vehicles across from my garage, I had to sharply angle my car to get it through the mcuh-too-slender opening last night. Anyway, I backed out and practically tore off my passenger-side mirror. Okay, it wasn't quite that bad, but I did break the plastic casing around the mirror. The mirror is intact, but not very aesthetically pleasing. So, I'm cranky. But I got my book.

Enjoyed Desperate Housewives, as always, but where the hell was James Denton? Marica Cross needs to eat a little more, but she looked smokin' in that red lingerie. But seriously, a fucking burrito?! Honey, Rex may have his faults, but he's not a bad-looking man. Let. It. Go. As for the mysterious Dana...Theories )

Spent a large portion of today marathoning Arrested Development. Got through the first two discs, which ended up being okay, since I had to tape tonight's season premiere. Stupid football delayed it so it conflicted with DH. Grr. How much do I love Jason Bateman? And Will Arnett? And Portia diRossi? So much.

Ranger or Morelli?

Almost my entire weekend was lost to the vortex of Stephanie Plum. I completed book 5 last night, which ended with me going "The fuck?!" Fortunately, my confusion was remedied this morning by reading the prologue to book 6 while eating breakfast. Yeah, I have no life. Damn you, [info]trixalicious! Obviously, I'm enjoying the books, but I might have a meltdown when I finish #9. Gah.

Somewhat to my own astonishment, I actually went clothes shopping again on Saturday. Technically, I just wanted to pick up a few more pairs of my kick-ass Jeffrey Fulvimari pajama sets. Which I did--they were 50% off! Woohoo! While I was there, though, I figured it wouldn't hurt to check out the casual clothes--I ended up buying two tops, a pair of shorts, and a pair of sweats. Seriously, don't need to clothes-shop for another year. Or until I lose wait, whichever comes first.

Finally started watching my Gilmore Girls DVDs. Made it through episode 7, and I'm reveling in the glory of season 1. It's kind of sad that Alexis Bledel came off more convincing in the pilot than she does now. And the girl seriously needs to eat.

Other than that, I hate Mondays.

Baby did a bad, bad thing

Wow. I am completely in awe of Nip/Tuck. Last night's episode was amazing. Julian McMahon is a truly gifted actor, and I would love to see him get recognition for this role. The scenes between Christian and Wilbur were heartbreaking, as was his breakdown in front of Julia. That said, spoilers ahead, mateys! )

Incidentally, [info]trixalicious, you suck so much. After completely devouring One for the Money on Sunday, I couldn't resist going to the bookstore yesterday (I was sick on Monday) and buying books 2 through 9 in the series. What have you done to me?! Why am I incapable of using a library?! At this point, I refuse to buy book 10, simply because it is only available in hardback, and I like my series books to match when they're sitting on my bookshelves. Yes, I'm a dork. Shut up. :)

Watched Summerland again last night. I am officially only watching it for the eye candy. Shawn Christian and Ryan Kwanten should be shirtless in every scene, and the show would be so much better. Am I really supposed to care about Bradin and his psycho-chick girlfriend? I finally tracked down where I had seen that actress before--she guest starred on an episode of C.S.I.. I think she looks kind of like a young Reese Witherspoon--I think it's the chin. Only Reese can, y'know, act. The guy who guest-starred last night as Nikki's principal was kind of a hottie too. Wonder if he'll end up as a love interest for Auntie Ava... Dude, why am I watching this show?

I'm such a fandom whore

Grr. I hate being sick. I was literarlly up all Sunday night, sweating, feverish, and puking. Needless to say, I did not go to work yesterday. Have I mentioned how much I cannot afford to miss work? Because I so can't.

Oh my God, I watched Entourage, and I am completely enamored of it. Oddly, my lust is totally focused on Eric, and I find it somewhat disturbing that he is played by Kevin Connolly, whose previous acting credits include the weenie brother on Unhappily Ever After... When the hell did he become hot? And have Adrian Grenier's always been blue? Are they actually blue, or did I just hallucinate that onto my TV Sunday night? Also, I've been a little more than half in love with Jeremy Piven since his star turn on the late, lamented Cupid, so I'm thrilled to see him on a series, even if his character is kind of a jerk.

And last night I watched Summerland, which was just...why did I watch it? I mean, it wasn't as cringe-worthily awful as, say, the first few episodes of One Tree Hill, but it's not great, either. But Shawn Christian is so pretty... I've liked him ever since he was Mike Kasnoff (spelling?) on As the World Turns. The Australian guy is cute, too, although that might be the awesome accent. Don't really care about the kids, although early in the episode I was wondering if Nikki might have a crush on Jay. Yeah, don't ask. Fandom ate my brain.

And finally... Damn you, [info]trixalicious! You had to go and rec the Stephanie Plum books, didn't you? I bought One for the Money on Sunday, and I read the entire thing that night. And now I want to go buy the rest of them! Don't you understand that I don't have time for this? I'm trying to resist by reading The Short Stories of F. Scott Fitzgerald, but seriously, "Bernice Bobs Her Hair" simply does not have the same appeal as possible Ranger or Morelli sex. Gah.

I’ve started making a list of my books—I’m not feeling well, and I’m just not motivated to do actual work—and so far I’m up to 216. That’s just from memory (well, with a little help from the Internet), and I’m not anywhere near done. I’ve gone through a lot of the series of books that I own, but I’ve barely touched on authors that I only have one or two volumes that they’ve written.

Not that any of this is a surprise, given just how full my numerous bookshelves are…

Anyway, how much of a travesty was American Idol last night? What a crock. None of those three—Amy, Jennifer, and especially LaToya—deserved to be in the bottom three, let alone booted off. The performances by John, JPL, Camile, and even DianaBot were much weaker and less deserving of support. I guess this is what happens when a fan base doesn’t exist.

So, thanks to [info]aliasrlm, I broke down and bought "Girl With a Pearl Earring." I haven't finished it yet, but I'm enjoying so far. Thanks, Rach!

And this isn't news, but I really just shouldn't be allowed in Borders. I always end up spending more than I should, on things I didn't even have any intention of buying. Gah. I have no willpower when it comes to books.
