Ficbits

Everwood, Bright, Chris Pratt
Two drabbles and a ficlet, from the prompts requested earlier this week. I'm still working on some of the others, so don't despair if it isn't here. It's just a question on inspiration.

Title: "Going Greek"
Author: [info]angel_grace
Pairing: Bright/Hannah
Rating: G
Word Count: 100
Summary: Hannah decides to join a sorority. Drabble, prompt by [info]filmobsessed137--Bright/Hannah, Rush Week.
Disclaimer: Everwood was created by Greg Berlanit. Since the WB didn't see fit to continue the story, I guess that means I will.

Going Greek )

Title: "Boardwalk Blues"
Author: [info]angel_grace
Characters: George, Izzie, Alex
Rating: PG
Word Count: 100
Summary: George, Izzie, and Alex play Monopoly. Drabble, prompt by [info]filmobsessed137--George/Izzie/Alex (friendship!), Monopoly.
Disclaimer: Grey's Anatomy was created by Shonda Rhimes. In the third season, it went off the rails. Regardless, not mine.

Boardwalk Blues )

Title: "Never Have I Ever"
Author: [info]angel_grace
Pairing: Booth/Bones
Rating: PG
Word Count: 459
Summary: Bones, Booth, Angela, and Hodgins spend an evening at Brennan's apartment, and end up playing "I Never." Ficlet, prompt by [info]silver_fic--Bones/Booth, with Angela and Hodgins and a drinking game.
Disclaimer: Still not mine.

A few of my favorite things

Bright Abbott, EW, Chris P
As requested by [info]leobrat and [info]screaming_mimie, a few of my top 5s...

Top 5 Candies (in no particular order)
1. Three Musketeers
2. Bulls-eyes
3. Twizzlers
4. Green Apple Jolly Ranchers
5. Chocolate-covered cherries

5 Best TV Kisses
5. Bright/Hannah in "Where the Heart Is" (Everwood): Mostly because it's Bright, and I love him, and because Hannah is so very much like me. I just couldn't help loving these two.
4. Veronica/Logan in "Weapons of Class Destruction" (Veronica Mars): Sure, they annoy the crap out of me now, but in the halcyon days of S1, I adored L/V. That first kiss on the balcony had me squeeing and flailing.
3. Angel/Cordelia in "You're Welcome" (Angel): I had pretty much stopped watching the show by that point, but I tuned in for the return of Cordy. The end of this episode had me bawling. Pretty much the best goodbye kiss ever.
2. Ross/Rachel in "The One Where Ross Finds Out" (Friends): This would have been number 1 if I hadn't grown to hate the couple by the end. But I still remember watching this episode my freshman year of college. When they finally kissed in Central Perk, you could hear the whole (all-girl) dorm cheering.
1. Pacey/Joey in "Cinderella Story" (Dawson's Creek): This kiss had been building all through season 3, and I was on the edge of my seat waiting for it to happen. I loved Pacey's frustration and desperation, the way he pulled the car over, and the fact that he couldn't help himself--he just had to kiss her. *swoon*

5 Best TV Friendships
5. Sydney, Will, and Francie, Alias: These three were the glue of normalcy that held the show together, the bastion of reality in Syd's crazy world of wigs and Rambaldi. When the show lost the anchor of their friendship, things went downhill fast.
4. Gibbs and Abby, NCIS: Yes, Tony is hot, but I mostly watch the show for this odd pair. Their affection for one another is obvious, and I love that she's not intimidated by him.
3. Jack and Jen, Dawson's Creek: The show really sucked in the later seasons, but at least Jack and Jen were there for comic relief. Their farewell in the series finale was just beautiful, and I loved that they were soulmates in the best, non-Dawson/Joey sense of the word.
2. Harold and Andy, Everwood: Sure, they started out bickering over parking spots, but...well, actually, they kept bickering. But they were there for each other when it mattered most, and it was awesome.
1. Bright and Ephram, Everwood: This show did relationships--platonic, familial, and romantic--better than pretty much any other show. Sure, they started out beating the crap out of each other, but they reached a turning point when Colin attacked Ephram. Eventually, there was pudding, and it was awesome. Whether it was Bright giving hysterically funny yet usually spot-on advice, or Ephram forcing his friend to do the right thing, they were a joy to watch.

5 Best Love Songs
Okay, this one was really hard. I love music, but a lot of my favorite songs have lyrics that aren't necessarily romantic. So I did my best.
5. "Shameless," Billy Joel: Billy Joel was my first "real" concert, when I was 16 years old. I don't listen to him as much anymore, but I love the way he lays it all on the line in this song.
4. "Can't Help Falling In Love," Elvis Presley: Since he died the day I was born, I kind of have to include him. Plus, a cover of this song was used at the end of my favorite 80s movie, Some Kind of Wonderful. And it's just a great song.
3. "All I Want Is You," U2: I had to include something by my favorite band in the world, but they don't really do traditional love songs. This one comes close, and I love how plaintive it can be.
2. "Collide," Howie Day: Yes, it's been used in every movie and TV show under the sun, but I can't help it. I absolutely adore it.
1. "Have a Little Faith in Me," John Hiatt: Just...yeah. I love this song beyond reason. If you've never heard it, find it now. It's not just a great love song, it's a great song, period.

Is it Friday yet?

Izzie Stevens, Justin Chambers, Alex Karev, Katherine Heigl, Alex/Izzie
Today was a very long day. I was at work for 10 1/2 hours, which sucked. On the plus side, I got to come home and watch Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy. Additionally, the first episode of S2 of Everwood aired today in ABC Family. I TiVoed it, and will transfer it to DVD. I'm planning on recording every episode of seasons 2-4, since the bastards won't put out the DVDs.

Since I'm exhausted, just a few quick thoughts on tonight's TV.

Salma Hayek is awesome )

Shut up, Meredith )

Must-See Tuesdays

Nancy Drew, girl detective, VM
Oh, Veronica Mars, how do I love thee? I really enjoyed last night's episode. Sure, it didn't match the sublime glory of "A Trip to the Dentist," but it was still really good. Wichita Linebacker )

Philosophical fandom question: How come, when Luke acts like an ass on Gilmore Girls, it's because the writers and/or Amy Sherman-Palladino suck and made him do it, but when Chris does something, it's because he's an immature asshole of the lowest order (TM Kate Moseley) and/or the spawn of Satan. Morons.

Still need to watch last night's Friday Night Lights, but I'm sure I'll love it.

Finally, The CW has officially cancelled Runaway. Rest in peace, Everwood For this, you lost your timeslot.

Fuck you, CW

Rewatching the pilot of Everwood on ABC Family, I am struck once more by how utterly enchanting this show was, and what complete and utter bastards the network suits are for cancelling this gem in favor of the utter dreck that is 7th Heaven. (My God, even Simon and Ruthie have jumped ship--it's time to let it go!)

*sigh*

If anyone is looking for a reason to rip your hair out by the roots, I recommend you head here, and read the comments posted about the interview with Lauren Graham. The arrogance, entitlement, and sanctimonious bullshit is rolling off the L/L fans in waves, as per usual. If, however, you would prefer to keep your sanity, stick to the actual interview, which I found rather interesting and entertaining.

People like that make me hate fandom...

Also, the Everwood season 1 DVD set has been hovering in the top 10 of the Amazon top sellers list for several days now, which I'm dearly hoping will prompt the release of further seasons. Money talks, people. (And the price is down to $16.99.)

Feeding the TV-on-DVD addiction

Let's hug it out bitch, Ari
Bought season 2 of entourage at Best Buy today, and it came with a t-shirt that says "Hug it out." I don't know that I'll ever wear it in public, but it's kind of fun anyway.

Speaking of TV on DVD...season 1 of Everwood is currently on sale at Amazon for $17.99. It has risen to number 8 on the Amazon DVD top seller list, and I'd love to see it go higher, in hopes it will spur TPTB to release further seasons. If you've ever considered buying it, that's a really good price.

Went back and retroactively tagged all of my old LJ entries, which took a while. But I was happy to see how many old Everwood posts I have. Right now the only TV show I've written about more is Veronica Mars.

waaaaaaaaah

I'm incoherent and sobbing, but suffice it to say that I loved the Everwood finale and I am going to miss it so, so much.

Requiem for Everwood

 • Jun. 5th, 2006 at 6:43 PM
Bright Abbott, EW, Chris P
Well, tonight is the end. After nearly four years, the Everwood journey is coming to a close. I've loved this show since the beginning. Sometimes it made me angry, and countless times it made me cry, but I have always, always adored it. Amy made me want to throw things at the TV, Bright made me swoon, and Ephram had me swinging between utter adoration and abject frustration. They have had realistic storylines, coherent character development, and some of the best acting on the TV. There is no "weak link" in the cast. Amy VanCamp is transcendant, Chris Pratt a revelation, Tom Amandes a frigging genius. Gregory Smith and Treat Williams are no slouches either. It pains me that after tonight, I won't get the share part of my week with the Browns and Abbotts. It pisses me off beyond measure that only S1 is on DVD. This is a show to be cherished, treasured.

It's been a hell of a trip...thanks for the ride, Everwood.

And, for old time's sake...damn you, Berlanti!

Oh, Everwood. How can I love something so much when it makes me cry every damn week? I watched two episodes, since I’m still playing catch-up from my vacation.

Of course, once I watched last week’s episode, I could hardly wait for eight o’clock last night to roll around. Death comes knocking )

All those commercials the WB has been airing, about Everwood being the best drama on TV? ARE TOTALLY TRUE! My God, this show just kills me every damn week. The tears, people--the tears! I continue to be blown away by the acting--so much talent that is overlooked simply because the show is on the WB. It's a travesty, I tell you.

A vote for Rose Abbott )

Watched Lost yesterday. I enjoyed it more than the last couple of weeks, but it still wasn't spectacular. I enjoy Hurley a lot, though, so it was cool seeing his flashbacks. Still, time seems to be moving ridiculously slowly--we've covered what, two days in four episodes?

A few more thoughts )

It really makes me sad that more people don't watch Everwood. It's such a great, great show, with some of the best acting on TV today. Emily Van Camp, Chris Pratt, Tom Amandes...oh, hell, the whole Abbott family rules. Strange to think that when the show began, it seemed to be about the Browns...

No tears this week )

Gilmore Girls was really good this week, and it set the stage for some major changes. Personally, I'm tired of the rift between Rory and Lorelai, and I hope it ends soon.

Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy )

Watched part of Celebrity Poker Showdown last night, featuring the men of Desperate Housewives. They are hysterical together. I think I love Doug Savant. Jamie Denton is freakin' adorable. And who knew Ricardo Chavira was so funny? I'll have to catch the rest of the ep sometime.

And finally...there are some new "Now or Never" shirts over at TWoP, including a green "Go Pirates" hoodie. I feel like I was supposed to tell someone if they ever sold anything like that again ([info]meegzi31, perhaps?), but I can't remember who, so I'm hoping that whoever it was sees this post.

Tennis, anyone?

I'm rather ridiculously pleased that Andy Roddick has advanced to the Wimbledon semifinals. I'm not especially invested in tennis anymore (my days of fangirl obsession with Jim Courier are long gone), but Andy's cute, American, and has a wicked serve. What more do I need? (Honestly, "cute" would probably be enough. I'm more than happy to watch the pretty that is Marat Safin as well.) Way back in '93, I actually got up at 7 am on the 4th of July to watch Courier play Pete Sampras in the Wimbledon final. (Sampras won, of course, which annoyed me to no end. He was such a tennis-playing robot. But I still got all weepy watching his retirement ceremony a few years ago.) I doubt I'll have the motivation to do that this year, but I'm enjoying catching bits and pieces of the tournament when I can. And I really should start playing again...I wonder if my racket got moved to my parents' new house by mistake?

They really need to put season 2 of Everwood out on DVD. That year had the best Bright/Ephram friendship scenes. Of course, it also had Madison, but c'est la vie.

Stargate SG-1 season 9 question )

Insensitive Bastard of Epic Proportions (IBoEP), aka ImbecileBoy, is still a raging asshole. And an ignorant asshole, at that. I don't feel like going into details, but there it is.

Just a reminder that Veronica Mars is on tonight at 9/8c. Unfortunately, UPN doesn't seem to be airing the episodes in order from the beginning, which sucks, but it's still worth watching.

I've admitted it before, and I'm not embarrassed to own up to it again: Everwood makes me cry pretty much every week. Usually I just well up a little, shed a few tears during a particularly poignant moment. But not last night. No, last night I was a full-on, sobbing mess. Damn you, Berlanti.

This episode was definitely season-finale caliber, but I'm so pleased that we still have one episode to go. I have a sinking feeling, though, that this summer will constitute a brutal wait. Episode thoughts behind the cut )

Long live the Bright-love

Bright Abbott, EW, Chris P
I finally got around to watching last Monday's episode of Everwood yesterday. Yes, I'm a wee bit slow, but things were kind of crazy last week, with exterminators not showing up, fixing my own plumbing, playing in a miniature golf league, and my parents coming to visit. Those things were finally behind me on Sunday, though, and so I settled in to watch my tape.

It still continues to amaze me how consistently awesome this show is. Maybe I don't have the same kind of shock-and-awe reactions to it that I experience when watching Veronica Mars, but ever so quietly, it works its way into my heart and just destroys me emotionally. I swear, I cry during every damn episode.More thoughts and ramblages behind the cut )

I also watched the season finale of Crossing Jordan last night, and it was...weird. A good episode, but as happens too often with season finales, too many questions were left unanswered. Read more... )

I'm going to see Star Wars--Episode III: Revenge of the Sith on Thursday night. We're seeing it on an IMAX screen, so it should be pretty awesome. I've been hearing very positive feedback so far, so I'm even more excited.

Is it weird that I am planning on taping Will & Grace on Thursday night solely because Eric Stoltz is guest-starring? I adored him in both Some Kind of Wonderful and Memphis Belle, plus I've always been a sucker for redheads.

Let the Logangst begin!

Eeeee! It's Veronica Mars night! I swear, this show is so good, it borders on the absurd. I'm sure that after tonight's undoubtedly-awesome episode, I will be tearing my hair out in anticipation of the finale next week. I still have absolutely no idea who is going to end up being Lilly's killer, and the not knowing is killing me! So much love for this show... And now I hear from TV Shows On DVD that the season one set will likely be available in September, which will allow me to brainwash convert my friends to the wonder that is VM in time for S2! Woohoo!

I think I'm finally on the upswing, health-wise, although I'm by no means at 100%. I stayed home from work yesterday, which was definitely the right thing to do, but I have now used all of my allotted "sick days" (a whopping 4) for the year, so if I get sick anymore, I will have to start tapping into vacation time. I've used four of my ten vacation days so far, and have plans for five of the remaining six, so that doesn't leave me a whole lot of wiggle room. Which sucks. Can I help it that I am perpetually ill? Grr. Guess I better get healthy.

Watched Everwood last night, and while I enjoyed the show, as always, I have to ask: what is the point of having both Bright and Hannah in the episode, but not giving them any scenes together? More thoughts behind the cut )

Enjoyed Grey's Anatomy again this week, although I still continue to feel utter apathy about Meh-redith. Cristina totally won my heart in the locker room scene with the "Shut up, Meredith." Awesomeness. George is just too adorable for words, and I *heart* him. I totally want him and Izzy to hook up. Speaking of Izzy, loved her tantrum outside the OR, when she gave Alex the smackdown. And woohoo for the non-woobie-fication of Alex! After last week's reveal that his father was a drug addict, I was afraid they were going to nice him up, but his asshattery was most firmly in place this week.

<lj user="mrsjamiewitter> has requested an Everwood drabble as part of the neverending fic-pinging, so expect sometime later today or tomorrow.

All hail the return of Everwood!

So, at long last, my beloved Everwood returned last night. Overall, I enjoyed it, but I'm still not sure it was worth that long of a wait. More thoughts behind the cut )

Also watched CSI: Miami (well, sort of; it was on, but I wasn't facing the TV most of the time). Show sucks so bad. Bleah. I really liked Ryan when they first introduced him, because he reminded me a lot of Greg Sanders, but ever since, a very large stick has been growing out of his ass and he has become annoying. Is this leading to some big downfall for him?

Nooo! Valera is one of the few redeeming characters on this show! She better not be gone for good. Hell, Catherine blew up the whole fucking lab and didn't get fired. Maybe Ryan will take his stick out of his ass long enough to help her?

Delko, you stupid man-whore. Not only is he engaging in anonymous sex, but he wears his badge to his hookups? Whatever. Apparently, he's mourning Speedle? I didn't quite get that part. Although yay for actually mentioning him...

As always: Shut UP, Horatio.

Multitudes of TV musings

 • Apr. 12th, 2005 at 8:49 AM
James Marsden
Today is a good day. For one thing, it's Tuesday, which means new episodes of Veronica Mars and House! American Idol, too, although that is somewhat less exciting. Speaking of VM, I was very excited to hear that it has been picked up for a second season. Next thing you know, I'm actually going to start having faith in network TV...obviously, the apocalypse is nigh.

Today is also a good day because ImbecileBoy is not at work. I was out sick yesterday (I swear, I get everything), and he's taking the day off, so it's been a blissful four days since I last had to put up with him. Admittedly, he hasn't been annoying me quite as much lately, but I'm still happier when I don't have to deal with him.

I'm officially hooked on Grey's Anatomy. I still watch Crossing Jordan, but I've started taping GA--largely because I can then watch the beauty that is Patrick Dempsey as many times as I want. Seriously, I have no idea when he got so freaking hot. I mean, he's always been cute--yes, count me among those who loved him in Can't Buy Me Love and Happy Together--but now he just smolders. When he and Meredith were in the locker room, and he was just staring at her...how did she not jump him right then and there? Oy. She's an idiot. And she is--and others before me have pointed out--such a Mary Sue. It's tempting to write fanfic featuring an original character, just because I know said character would be less of a Mary Sue than she is. Plus, Ellen Pompeo is by no means devastatingly gorgeous--she's all squinty eyes and mousy hair--and the character of Meredith Grey doesn't exactly have a sparkling personality, so why are all the men on the show swooning at her feet? Why are none of them drooling over Izzie?

I absolutely adore George, and I loved that the VIP patient kept calling him a "beautiful boy," even though the actor is not what I would call traditionally handsome. He's just...huggable.

I even find Alex cute, in a shut-up-or-I'll-slap-you-asshole kind of way. I think it would be sort of hysterical if he and Cristina hooked up. Also, I'm mildly freaked out by the fact that the actor apparently played Massimo in the Jennifer Lopez/Matthew McConaughy flick The Wedding Planner. Never would have put that together without TV Tome.

Is anyone else becoming seriously disturbed by Carlos and Gabrielle's relationship on Desperate Housewives? More thoughts behind the cut )

Am I the only one who actually likes Det. Matt Seely on Crossing Jordan? Maybe it's just because I think he's cute, but I find something rather endearing about him. Sure, he's abrasive and arrogant, but so is Jordan. He's obviously interested in Lily, and I really felt that he was trying to help her in the only way he knew how. The fact that Garrett basically told him to get lost was annoying. I hope they don't try to go back down the road of a Garrett/Lily romance, because that would squick me out. I don't care for the boss/subordinate relationships so many TV shows seem to gravitate towards. Besides, I think Garrett's relationship with Rene Walcott is much more interesting.

I'm in serious Everwood withdrawal. It's coming back next week, right?
